Ajax Killdevil

The Dobarr are an aquatic, sapient race from a large somewhat cold weather planet called Marr. They are a large bodied species well adapted for deep diving and cold water swimming. They are covered in a short, dense fur that is usually in mottled grey patterns but can range from pure black to pure white. They average between 6 and 8 feet tall, between 550 and 900 pounds and males tend to skew larger than females.

Marr is both the name of the planet, and of its largest ocean. The majority of Dobarr civilization is on the rocky coasts of this ocean, in its islands and in rivers that lead to it.

The largest cities are settled on the coastline, with much of the working class living on artificial islands or rafts while the wealthier tend to own the more permanent portions of the city.

Almost all of Dobarr life is aquatic- they raise aquatic plants such as kelp and other types of domesticated seaweed, as well as raising animals such as class, eels, and sea-cow like animals for meat and for milk.

Dobarr life is fairly low-tech, as saltwater is generally unfriendly to most computerized tech. Most of what is found in civilian life doesn't go further than a simple outboard motor boat, and even things like textiles are often woven or spun by hand.

Dobarr do enjoy the benefits of some space faring travel, however it is very rare they bother to leave the planet for recreational purposes. Their major export is Murex, a type of sea snail valuable for components made from its blood or shell. They also export quite a bit of sea food, and are rumored to be the best seafood chefs in the galaxy.

They are a friendly and peaceful people but do not visit others or expect visitors often- their accommodations are usually best described as "fishy" and "damp."

They are a very equitable species with no regard to gender identity, and same sex partnerships are not considered unusual.
